This Oresama teacher chapter concentrates on the relationship between Mafuyu, her friends, and the professor. I enjoyed seeing the core cast together again after a break from the central plot to the series. By the end of the chapter we catch a glimpse of the new villains for the next arc. For people who want something more laid back this chapter is worth reading.

Hana to Yume: Oresama Teacher chapter 41
Oresama Teacher chapter 41 returns to the central narrative again as the reader learns more about professor’s past through his friend from his schooling years. An old friend of the professor returns as Mafuyu befriends and inevitably becomes jealous towards him in the span of one chapter. Mafuyu still has not finished her summer homework which is interrupted by the professor’s friend and the professor himself. I enjoy the series’ poke at shonen manga conventions with everyone being “friends” regardless of circumstances. It really helps the series stick itself out in the current shojo manga landscape often nowadays populated by pulpy YA romances. If you want something refreshing to pass a rather intense stressful summer populated by anxiety conducive news I recommend checking this chapter out.
Hana to Yume: Oresama Teacher chapter 40
Oresama Teacher chapter 40 concentrates on the supporting cast again thankfully the series is concentrating on the central plot again. I enjoyed seeing development for the series antagonists. As usual, the chapter never became too dark. What little action was mostly played for slapstick purposes although I liked that there was some meaning in even the most minute details like a fight scene which causes the villain’s arms to break as a chapter plot point. If you want to read something surreal I highly recommend checking out this chapter.
Hana to Yume: Oresama Teacher chapter 39
Oresama Teacher chapter 39 concentrates on Mafuyu’s junior high gang buddies as they go camping. To be frank, these characters do not stand out as colofully as the main cast so they strike me as interchangeable. I appreciate the focus on the supporting cast as these characters still need more development. If you want something light and fluffy to read I recommend checking this chapter out.
Hana to Yume: Primitive Boyfriend chapter 5
This chapter concentrates on the heroine’s search for Garhi her prehistoric pal. I enjoyed the focus on her caveman companion as the story developed their relationship some more. The series has a refreshing focus as expected of a story which came from the pages of Lala magazine. If you enjoy stories about prehistoric life this one is a refreshing change from the usual shojo fare.
Hana to Yume: Oresama Teacher chapter 38
This chapter resolves the battle between Mafuyu and one of her junior high gang buddies with a shaved ice contest which ends in him having heat stroke. Mafuyu learns more of the deeper emotions from her childhood companion. It was a rather emotionally resonating seeing this side character open up as he is unusually reserved when the series concentrates on Mafuyu’s hometown friends. This story is the perfect summer reading.
Shonen Jump: My Hero Academia chapter 252
The conflict is quickly diffused by the start of this chapter as My Hero Academia concentrates on the emotional familial bonds of Todoroki’s family. I liked that the resolution to this fight is not wrapped up as neatly as it could easily have been. Endeavor’s son still hasn’t forgiven him for his past neglect of the siblings. I also liked that Endeavor does ask for forgiveness but atonement for his crimes. If you enjoy stories about heartbreaking family dramas this chapter is worth a read.
Shonen Jump: My Hero Academia chapter 251
This chapter of My Hero Academia returns the reader once again to the action sequences the series mostly specializes in. It was moving seeing Todoroki coming to his brother’s rescue. It would be nice if the series gave us more insight into his brother as the series has not really focused on Todoroki’s siblings much if at all to date instead choosing to concentrate on the more emotionally resonating tragic past of Todoroki himself. Deku finally sees some actual on-panel fighting something which has been missing from the series for quite some time which strikes me as odd as he is the protagonist. If you enjoy fight scenes this chapter is one is not to be missed as it really strikes the right chord.
Shonen Jump: My hero Academia chapter 250
This chapter digs more into the dark past surrounding Todoroki’s family as a new villain appears. once again, this chapter concentrates on Endeavor. I liked that the new villain was not just someone random but tied to the theme of past tragedies for the series. It was nice seeing the more light-hearted dynamics during the car ride as the characters who are not often all together in one place bounce off each other. If you want some compelling reading I recommend checking this chapter out.
Shonen Jump: My Hero Academia chapter 249
This chapter focuses on Deku having a meal with Todoroki’s family. The biggest focus is on Todoroki’s relationship with his dad Endeavor. The tragedy of the family’s past comes into focus as Deku and his lifelong rival try to help Todoroki come to grips with personal tragedy over a meal. If you enjoy darker more emotional narratives I recommend reading this chapter.
